SUPERANNUATION SCHEMES.
REMOVAL OF ANOMALIES. 1 WELLINGTON,'January 18. The Government has been for some time looking into the question of the position of the various superannuation systems, ofi which there are four in existence—namely: The public service, the teachers, and the railways, and the fourth is the National Provident Fund, the benefits of which are available to the general public, but it can be regarded for all practical purposes as a superannuation scheme. - The Minister in Charge of the Public Service Superannuation Department (the Hon. W. Nosworthy) stated to-day that the Government considered that the time had arrived when the wholes question should, be-inquired into, _and ' anomalies removed. Cabinet has, therefore, appointed what may be regarded as a departmental committee to investigate and report on the whole matter. This com--mittee will comprise a representative front each of the f our funds mentioned,, probably the chairman or the officer who usually'acts for him in his absence, the Public Eeryice Commissioner, and the ftycretary to the Treasury. ,The committee will consist of six persons. It is probable also that a Government actuary will be available for consultation if required, but he will not be a member. The committee will make its report to the Minister iu ; due course.
