PUBLIC BEQUESTS.

SIR JOHN ROSS’S WILL.

Included in the will of the late Sir John Ross are numerous public bequests, many of the beneficiaries being institutions connected with the Presbyterian Church. These are as follow (the bequests being annual ones, and for the tenure of 12 years):— Foreign missions fund (Presbyterian Church), £lOO. . Widows and orphans’ fund (Presbyterian Church), £lOO. Aged and infirm ministers’ fund (Presbyterian Church), £lOO. Home mission fund (Presbyterian Church), £lOO. Presbyterian Social Service Association, £lOO. Salvation Armv (Dunedin), £lOO. University of Otago (for commercial educational purposes), £lOO. Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society, £lOO. Y.W.C.A.. £25. Dunedin City Alission, £25. In addition to these £5OO annually has been bequeathed to Knox College under certain specified conditions for a period of 12 years. There is also a legacy of £lOO a year for 20 years to the Ross Institute at Halkirk, Caithness, Scotland (where Sir John Ross was born), the £2OOO constituting the legacy to be capitalised at the end of the 2° years’ term.
