BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.

LAST YEAR’S STATISTICS. The bankruptcy statistics for the Otago district for the quarter ended December 31, show that the number of bankruptcies unclosed at the end of the September’quarter was 23, as compared with 26 for- the corresponding period of 1925. During the December quarter there was only one bankruptcy, whereas in the corresponding three months' of the previous year there were 10. At the pnd of December the official assignee bad 24 bankruptcies in hand, as compared with 36 at the end of 1925. The total amount of assets realised during the last three months of 1926 ; was £284 Ils 4d, as compared with £1383 19s 3d for a similar ..period a year earlier. The total amount paid in dividends, including preferential claims, for the last, quarter of 1926 was £560 12s 2d, whereas for the Same period in 1925 it was £1096 6s sd. THE YEAR’S RETURNS.
