A WITNESS REPRIMANDED.

L JUDCE ISSUES WARNING. ’ CHRISTCHURCH, September 9. A woman who was summoned to appear as a witness in the Supreme Court yesterday, but who refused to attend, put in her appearance to-day. Mr M'Carthy said that the woman humbly and sincerely apologised to the court. Her mother had to go out yesterday morning, and there was nobody else to look after the woman’s little child. “It is highly improper, but I accept the explanation,” Mr Justice Adams said to the woman. His Honor added: “I wish to warn you. It is only right to tell you that your conduct has rendered you liable to a fine or imprisonment for contempt of eonrt. You must never act in such a manner again.”
