SOUTHLAND POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. INVERCARGILL, September 7. The monthly meeting of the Southland Electric Power Board was held to-day, Mr A. W. Rodger presiding. It was decided that complaints concerning the penalty charges for not paying accounts within a certain period be dealt with by the full board, and not by the Control Committee. It was decided to accept the tender of £ll7B by the Dunedin Engineering and Steel Company for the manufacture and erection at Monowai of the penstock necessary in connection with the new unit which is to be installed next year. A formal resolution was passed authorising the overdraft to be increased to £75,000. The Secretary (Mr Chas. Campbell) reported that the total amount of rates outstanding was £7559 3s lid, and gave the definite amounts for various local bodies which were as follows: —County councils — Southland, £4870; Wallace, £1839; peka*£37; and borough councils—lnvercargill, £161; South Invercargill, £52; Gore, £67; Riverton, £l4; Winton, £l6; Mataura, £35; Bluff. £35; and Tapanui, £2: town boards—Lumsden, £l7; Otautau, £27; Edendale, £3l; Nightcaps, £l7; and Wyndham, 42.
