“New Zealanders speak the purest English in the world,” declared Mr J. w. Shaw, M.A., in the course of an address to the Karangahape road business men (reports the Auckland Star). He proceeded to slate that there was not the slightest doubt that the New Zealander was virtually the only person in the Empire who spoke without an accent.
