COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS.

ASSOCIATION DAY. The thirteenth anniversary of Association Day of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association of Gtagu was celebrated on {Saturday night in the form of a social evening. The club’s large social hall was comfortably filled with members and their friends. Mr James Brown (president of the association) was in the chair, and he briefly welcomed the guests, and expressed pleasure at seeing so many ladies present. He lightly sketched the formation and work of the United Association, paying a tribute to the early pioneers of the movement. in outlining the benefits derived from all the associations being united a d ,ble to speak with one voice, he cspeciallv stressed the value of the sick and accident fund and the New Zealand 'f ravollor, the association’s own paper and official organ, 'lhese two features were plendid assets, and if the United Association had done nothing else but nut these two schemes on a sound financial basis, it would have justified its existence. He concluded by urging the vounger members to endeavour to live up to the high standard set bv the promoters, and make themselves worthy of the association to which they belonged. An excellent musical programme was then cone through. T-he Club s Entertainers sang several part songs in a hnidiea manner, and Begg’s Orchestra rendered several selections, the march “Miss Mardi Gras” (R. S. Stoughton) being especially appreciated. Songs were contributed by Mrs Macartney, Miss Agnes Guy, and Messrs A. W. Romeril, F. MUullough, and A. Clapp. A tenor Horn solo was given by Mr J. Himburg, and Miss Stella Baylev played a violin solo. Mr A. L. Burk acted as accompanist, am 1 Mr G. J. Scott was musical director and conductor.
