There are prospects, it is understood, of at least two or three tenders being received by the Tongariro National Park Board for the hostel concession (says the New Zealand Herald). The interest that has already been shown by men with money to invest, or their representatives, is proof of an awakening interest not only in the parki* but in the whole question of catering for tourists. A fact which is likely to encourage enterprise in this direction is that the hostel would become an important link in the chain of tourist houses between Rotorua and the Wanganui River, and at the same time would create a new tourist centre. —ln South Africa there is a great demand for donkeys, as they are proof against the climate, plagues, and flies.
