EDUCATION EXPENDITURE.

WELLINGTON, June 2. The Hon. R. A Wright, Minister of Education, replying to a deputation which asked for additions to the Wellington Technical College, said questions were being asked whether or not the Education Department was getting value for ..s expenditure or was spending it in the right direction. The Minister said be could not answer these questions yet. He agreed that technical education in Wellington bad been thrust to one side. Proceeding, he said: “A great many promises were made before I came into office. Commitments have been made by my predecessor which I shall certainly have to redeem. There can be no escape from them. This is going to handicap me very severely in my first year of office.” The Minister said the present request would be brought before Cabinet.
