PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED.

Life, in an attractive new cover, is responsible for some excellent reading in its June number. ‘’The Goose Woman,” a dramatic story of human frailty and heroism in three parts, begins; “Loot and the Bandits,” is a special article telling how bank treasures and jewels are guarded and looted; “The Quest,” is the first of a set of five short stories by the author of “Beau Geste”; “The Devil’s Slide” is the first of a very human set of stories by Frank L. Packard ; “Clustering Round Bingo” is an uproarious tale by P. G. Wodeliouse; and “The Secret of Long Life,” by C. M. Depew, is full of interesting information. * * « We have to acknowledge the first copy of Norway, a monthly commentary on Norway’s selling, buying, and shipping, and of which the object is to increase the volume of trade between Norway and the countries which go to form the British Commonwealth of Nations, of which New Zealand is an integral part. The present issue contains two articles of vital interest to all New' Zealand business men. The first is written by Colonel Sir James Allen, High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, and the second by the head of the Norwegian Government’s Statistical Office. As regards the latter, it is astonishing to find that while Norway has a fair export trade to New' Zealand, New Zealand exports practically nothing to Norway. The object of the publication is to increase trade between the two countries. It assists in every way posible to establish trade connections either direct or via London, and gives full particulars of Norway’s 'trade activities in all parts of the world; it seeks to create a greater interest among Norwegian business men for New Zealand as not only a valuable market, but as an important supplier of just those commodities of which Norway stands in need; and it is arranging for a series of regular articles on New Zealand's trade in general.
