INJURED BY MOTOR.
DRIVER'S ALLEGED DRUNKENNESS. AUCKLAND, June 4. A charge of recklessly driving a motor car and causing injury to Mrs Beatrice Pomery in New North road on April 3 was preferred against George Vincent in the Police Court to-day. It was stated that Mrs Pomery had just alighted from a tra- car when she was struck by the right-hand mudguard of Vincents motor car. The speed of the car was estimated at 30 miles an hour, and s it was alleged the accused did not reduce speed, and did not pull up after the’.accident. Constable - Annis said he saw accused soon after the accident, and accused told him he had no knowledge of the accident. He was then under the influence of liquor. In reply to counsel, witness said accused could have tak#n liquor after the accident.
Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court, for trial.
