QUARRY WORKERS’ WAGES.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 3. The quarry workers in Canterbury are to receive an increase in wages of Id per hour under their new award, which has Just been Issued by the Arbitration Court. The following shall be the minimum rates of wages for workers engaged in quarry work: (a) Workers employed quarrying stone, getting out pitchers, building stone, kerb stone, and paving stone ready for masons, shall be paid 2s per hour. (b) Certificated men using explosives, and men barring down after a shot where a quarry face la 20ft or more in height, la lljd per hour. (c) Men using explosives where a quarry face ia less than 20ft in height, Is lid por hour. (d) All other workers, la 10c! per hoar.
