POLICE TRANSFERS.

EXHIBITION STAFF DISBANDED. WELLINGTON, May 4. During the Exhibition a sergeant and constables were on special duty there. Now that the Exhibition has been Hosed these men are leleased for duty elsewhere. To-day ihe Commissioner of Police announced reveral alterations and transfers in the police force. Mr MT.veney stated that owing to the growth of the district and increasing rail-' way and motor traffic at Frankton Junction the police staff at that place would be increased by the addition of a sergeant and a constable, making a total staff of a sergeant and three constables. The inincreased staff would provide police attention at night time, consequently Sergeant’ A. E. Stark, of Mount Cook. Wellington, would be transferred to take charge of the station at Frankton Junction. As additional police were urgently required at Hamilton it had been decided to strengthen the staff there by three constables. For the purpose of filling these vacancies at -Frankton and .Hamilton re-? spectively. Constables G. F. Atkins, G» Murray anil A. Andrew had been transferred from Dunedin When the Exhibition staff was disbanded another constable would be sent to Hamilton. Sergeant G. F. Bonisch had been transferred from Dunedin to replace Sergeant Stark r.t Mount Cook. After referring to local changes in the / Wellington district Mr MTlveney continued that for health, family and other reasons the following transfers have also been made: Constable H. J Harrington has been transferred from Wellington to Auckland: Con«table F. Forsyth from Dun-' edin to Christchurch, and Constable F.‘ J. Alexander from Dunedin to Wellington. Mr MTlveney said it was not intended' to remove the staff from the Exhibition for at least a fortnight pending the racking and transfer of valuable exhibits from the building in . which they hove been stored.
