ELECTION OF OFFICERS,
WELLINGTON, May 4. Mr Parlane, the returning officer, announces that the result of the annual ballot for the election of officers, organisers, and delegates of the New Zealand Workers’ Union is as follows:—National president, Mr J. Townsend (Wanganui); national vice-president, Mr F. Dowling (Wanganui); general secretary, Mr A. Cook (Wellington); delegates to the AlVanco of Labour Conferences, Messrs h. Cook (Wellington) and J. Townsend (Wanganui); Executive Council, Messrs A. J. Middlemiss (Gore) and H. A. M Quilken (Miller’s Flat); organisers—Messrs H. J Walters (Mount Maunganui), J. B. Williams (Auckland), C. E. Baldwin (ChristchurchV, W. Boone (Christchurch), D. Boreham (Dun edin), A. J. Middlemiss (Gore), J. Townsend (Wanganui), R. Tutaki (Fernhill), and J. Whvte (Wellington); delegates to the annual conference—Messrs A. J. Middlemiss (Gore), J. G. Leckie (Timaru), J. Jones (Cromwell), H. J. Walters (Mount Maunganui), J. B Williams (Auckland), R.. Tutaki (Fernhill), and W. M'Lennan (Seddon). On the question of a universal interchangeable memberships ticket to operate in all industries covered by the New Zealand Workers’ Union, the Freezing Workers’ Federation, and the Timber Workers' Federation Ihe voting was as follows:—In favour 2128, against 817;—majority in favour, 1811.
