TRIENNIAL ELECTIONS. Nominations closed at noon on the 3rd for seats on the county councils and \»3iik>us other local bodies in Otago: — BRUCE COUNTY COUNCIL. Seven retiring members of the Bruce County Council were re-elected unopposed, as follows: Balmoral No. 1 Riding.—Victor Wilson. Balmoral No. 2 Riding.—Adam King. Clarendon Riding.—Harry M’Lean Driver. Glenledi Riding.—David Gardyne. Kaitangata Riding.—Thomas Johnson. Inchclutha Riding.—Alexander Renton. Mount Stuart Riding.—William John Sheat. In three ridings there will b-’ contests, the names of those nominated being as follows:—• Crichton Riding.—Jasper Clark and William Cochrane. Tokomairiro Riding.—James Lockhart Donald M'Gregor and Thomas Scott. Waihola Riding.—Williaii Bell and John Stranger. TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL. The following were returned unopposed as members of the Taieri County Council: — North Taieri Riding.—Charles Findlay. East Taieri Riding.—Walter Blackie. Kaikorai Riding.—Alexander Scott. Otokia Riding.—Duncan MTntosh. Outram Riding.—James W. Blair. Deep Stream Riding.—Francis Doherty. Maungatua Riding.—R. A. Kempshell. In the Strath-Taieri Riding an election for one member will be held, Dugald Mathcson (retiring member), Thoma 3 Carruthers, and W r m. Moynihan having been nominated. LAKE COUNTY COUNCIL. The following were nominated to day for seats on the Lake County Council:--Arrow Riding.—Meesrs William M'Kibbin and William Stewart Reid. Cardrona Riding.—Mr Willis Alan Scaife. Greenstone Riding.—Mr George Reid. Kingston Riding. Archibald A. M'Caughan. Matukituki Riding.—Mr William Reid. Queenstown Riding.—Messrs John Cockburn and Leo Lee. Shotover Riding.—Mr Henry J. H. Lewis. This being not more than the required number the above were declared elected. Thus, with one exception, the personnel of the council remains unaltered. Mr John Cockbum taking the place of Mr J. E. O’Connell, who did rot seek re-election. TUAPEKA COUNTY COUNCIL. Nominations for the Tuapeka County Council closed to-day, and the sitting members for seven out of the nine ridings were returned unopposed as follows: Waipori Riding.—Mr Robert Cotton.

Brown’s Riding.—Mr A. C. Leary. Waifcahuna Riding.—Mr W. Cameron. Teviot Riding.—Mr R. M'Donald. Crooketon Riding.—Mr D. Revill. Benger Riding.—Mr J. Bennct. Tapanui Riding.—Mr E. H. Murney. Contests will take place in the remaining two ridings, the nominations being as follows: Beaumont* Riding.—Messrs D. M Lelland and R. Yarnley. Gabriel’s Riding.—Messrs J. R. Simpson and R. S. Thompson. OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD. An election will be necessary to select a representative for the combined counties ef Bruce. Ciutha, Tuapeka. and Manio toto on the Otago Harbour Board. Messrs Harrv M‘Lean Driver arid Donald M‘Gregor having been nominated. OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD. As representative of Taieri County and the Mosgiel Borough on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Mr A. F. Quelch* was returned unopposed. OTAGO ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. Miller (WharehuamiD, the sitting mem ber, and Mr John Cockburn (Arthur’s Point), an ex-representative, have been nominated, and a poll will be taken on May 12. * BLUFF HARBOUR BOARD. Mr Peter Reid, Lower Shotover, the present representative of Lake County and the Borough of Queenstown and Arrowtown on the Bluff Harbour Board was reelected unopposed for the district. CLUTHA COUNTY COUNCIL. The following were re-elected unopposed to seats on the Ciutha County Council: — Gatlins, Mr Thomas Maginness; Soutii Molyneux, Mr George Hay: Richardson, Mr W. 8. Thomson: Ciutha, David R. Jack; Clinton, Mr A. T. Harris; Clydevale, Mr Joseph Mosley; Pomahaka, Mr Robert MT.ndoe; Waipahi, Mr Jas. Cumniing. In the following ridings an election will be necessary:— Maelennan.—Messrs Albert Gross and John R. Wilson. Glenkcnich.—Messrs W. J. MKenzie and Alex. M‘lntyre. SOUTH OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD. Five members were required, and the following were elected unopposed for the seats on the South Otago hospital Board: Messrs Henry A. Brough, James Gumming, John Christie, JoS. Mosley, and W. S. Thomson. Messrs Adam King, Jasper Clark, and Harry M'Lean Driver were re-elected unopposed as representatives of the Bruce County Council on the South Otago Hospital Board. TOMAHAWK ROAD BOARD. MANIOTOTO COUNTY COUNCIL. Nominations for candidates for seats <?n the Maniototo County Council closed on Tuesday la6t. All the nine retiring councillors were nominated and the following six were re-elected unopposed St. Bathang Riding: N. Nicholson. Lauder Riding: E. Morgan. Idaburn Riding: T. A. Lowis. Hyde Riding: Thos. Ramsay. Serpentine Riding: P Aitken. Puketoi Riding: T. Hall. Elections will he held in three ridings the candidates being as follows Mount Ida Riding: P. Bleach and R. F. S. Inder. Gimmerburn Riding: H. W. Davis and R. J. E. Smith. Kyehurn Riding: W. M. Mathewson and R. Scott. Messrs P. Bleach, H. W. Davis and R. Scott were members of the last council. MANIOTOTO HOSPITAL BOARD. For the Maniototo Hospital Board 14 nominations have been received for the seven seats. The retiring members seeking ro-election are- Messrs H. W. Davis, E. Morgan, N. Nicholson, T. A. Lowis, T. Hall, T. Ramsay and the Hon. R. Scott. New condidates seeking election are— Mop<-re P. Aitken, P. Bleach, T. Dowling, R. 8. F. Inder, W. M. Mathewson, R. J. E. Smith and W. Smith.
