ESCAPED PRISONER.

AN UNENVIABLE EXPERIENCE. TAUMARUNUI, May 6. The prisoner who escaped from the Waihune prison on Sunday afternoon (Charles Henry Whitehead) had an unexperience of spending three nights in a howling storm, without food and without covering, except for a blanket. He was recaptured last night at the OtUgu Pa by two prison officers. Whitehead having gone to the pa for food. The prisoner appeared before Mr W. J. M'Watters, J.P., at the Magistrate’s Court, and was remanded to appear at Auckland on Monday.
