“Fallow deer are not destructive,” statesthe annual report of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society, “and numbers of owners protect them and have written to the society protesting against their ruthless destruction, no doubt thinking that the Government intended to remove the restriction on fallow deer as was done on the red deer,” concludes the report. “You get of! lightly,” said the Magistrate (Mr 11. Y Widdowson. S.M.) in fining Herbert Edward Brandon, of Christchurch, £5 for having sold milk containing over 17 per cent, of water. There were five gallons of water in 35 gallons of milk.
