The University of New Zealand will be represented at tne forthcoming congress of universities of the Empire by Professor J. MacMillan Brown of Christchurch, Mr J. VV. Joynt, M.A. (the university’s agent in London), and Mi J. P. Cabbatt (formerly of the professorial staff of Canterbury College). The congress will open in London on July 12, and bo continued at Cambridge. It is said that the Balclutha High School Committee will have to buy firewood when tLe new building opens (says the Free Press), and yet hundreds of cords of good wood were sold off the school site at very low priees /hen the groves of pine and were ruthlessly cut down.
