ORPHANAGE SIGHTSEERS.
THE MAYOR'S TREAT. “I was on the scenic rail wav for the first, time to-day, and enjoyed it thoroughly.” The speaker was the Mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley, M.P.), who had just concluded a thrilling round of the Amusements Park v’th 400 delighted children from the orphanages of Dunedin. It was a happy thought on the part of the Mayor and Mayoress to conclude six months close association with the Exhibition and ita visitors by giving a treat, to the children that thev will remember lor-’ 1 after the Exhibition is a tiling of the past. The children were transported to Logan Park by special trams in the morning, and marched to the Sports Ground under dhe supervision of Mr S. Dunklev. where they were met by the genial host, Mr Tapley, and presented with souvenir badge*. Lunch was provided, and after a tour of th,»‘ courts and pavilions, and a round of the Exhibition amusements, the tired but thoroughly satisfied army of young sightseers assembled in front of the Festival Hall, where it was joined by the Band of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and photographed in a large combined group. \ The Mayoral generosity was complete in that he presented each child with a sum of money to be spent at will. td
