As u result of the dry season stock is offering freely at the Hastings freezing works, especially cattle and calves. Sheep are not so plentiful. During the post three weeks the beef butchers earned £l7 10s per week per man (says the Hawke’s Bay Tribune), and the prospects are good for at least a month at Tomoana. Whakatu and Paki Paki are also busy.
