DOMINION PRODUCE.

THE £1,000,000 GRANT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, March 10. Nothing has so far been heard of the results of the recent meetings of the Imperial Economic Committee. It was reported that the Secretary for Dominion Affairs, as a re suit of these meetings, would shortly be able to make a statement regarding the £1,00,000 grant for assisting and advertising dominion produce. According to the parliamentary correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, disappointment is expressed in parliamentary circles regarding the delay. It will be remembered that in its first re port the Economic Committee recommended the establishment of a permanent board, or commission, to supervise the spending of the grant. It became necessary for the Colonial Office to draw up a scheme under which effect could be given to this suggestion, and a considerable amount of time has been occupied in consulting with Overseas Governments on the subject Dominion approval of the method to be pursued is regarded as absolutely essential, and it is authoritatively stated that the exchange of views will be completed in a few days. In hese circumstances there is every expectation in Government circles that Mr Amery. the Secretary for Dominion Affaire, will oe in a position to make a statement in Parliament before Easter. There is little prospect that the full amount of the grant will be spent in the coming financial year, although an assurance is now forthcoming that a beginning will be made, and it is hoped that in due time arrangements will be completed whereby the dominions will get the full benefit of the scheme. The question of continuing the Imperial Economic Committee will he decided at the Imperial Conference in the autumn.
