HEALTH EDUCATION.
AN EXTENSION SUGGESTED. AUCKLAND, April 28. A statement regarding the attitude of the British Medical Association on the question of public education in matters of health was made by Dr Milsom, president of the Auckland division of the association. He said: “Now that the standard of general education is so much higher there can be no doubt that wider teaching in matters of health would be of considerable economic vahre. We are of the opinion that further instruction could be undertaken by the Department of Health. It is a very excellent move on the part of the association, which is fully alive to the situation. Its dissemination of knowledge of tuberculosis and of cancer, and its ante natal care campaign, to mention but a few of its activities, is deserving of the highest praise. While we think that this is the proper channel through which authoritative statements should come to the public, our association in Auckland is considering a scheme whereby any recognised society or group of people may, by asking our association, he supplied with a lecturer who has a recognised professional knowledgo of the subject of the address to be given.”
