RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Tuesday. Mr E. J. Anderson president) occupied the chair. The nominations of nine new members and three resignations were accepted. It was decided that the appointment of sub-committees should be left to the president and the two vice-presidents (Messrs A. C. Laing and H. L. I’aterson) to bring forward a recommendation. The Chairman said he thought the Anzac Pay function was the most successful yet held. The method of observance was ideal. —On the motion of Mr J. M'Crae, it was decided to place a report of the proceedings in the minute book. “We are making history,” said Mr McCrae, “and the report may be considered by the historians of the future.” Mr A. MclTutchon (treasurer) said that the sum of £4 11s 9d collected at the Mncandrew’s Bay Anzac Pay service had been handed to him to be devoted 'towards tho Financial Assistance Fund. It was decided that the executive should interview the Prime Minister ami place before him its views on tile positions of "permanent casual” Government employees, and also make suggestions to him regarding (letter roading at the Wilden. Hun. Mr Paterson said the road was, Ui places, almost impassable. The men were up against a stone wall.
