Looking over the tide of “ The Skylark,” the Chums espied long, straight country roads lined with tall, stately poplar trees. “ This must be Belgiumsaid Teddy, “ we’ll land here.” As they came to earth they, saw approaching an old Belgian peasant, walking alongside a small cart, laden with hay, and harnessed to it was—not a horse, but a large, stalwart dog. " What a shame to make a dog work hard like that,” said Golly. "Don’t be silly," answered Teddy. “ They are awfully strong and are trained for their job, like our shepherd dogs are for theirs. In the towns and villages you will see dogs pulling the milk carts about.” “ Weeping Winkles!” exclaimed Golly. “ Won’t there be some fun when one of the dogs starts chasing a cat?” “ Well,” said Teddy, ” it won’t be any use the milkmen crying over spilt • milk • Jump in, Golly. We’ll have a trip to Holland.” , (To be Continued.)
