TE KUITI, April 29. A dispute that has been simmering for some time between Ellis and Burnand and the Native owners of a block leased for timber cutting came to a climax when the Maoris stopped a locomotive on the border of tho block, 10 miles from Mangapehi. The representative of the Maoris served notice on the manager charging the company witte a breach of agreement, and stated the company and its employees would be treated as trespassers if found on the block, as the agreements were cancelled. The locomotive returned to Mangapehi, and foodstuffs and. mail were sent on a horse truck. The Native owners contend that the in' creased royalties agreed upon last v«ar became payable over 12 months ago, white the company declares they are not payable till the new agreement is approved by tho Native Land Court, which will consider the matter at ita next sitting.
