ROAD ENDANGERED.

BIG SLIP IMMINENT. WELLINGTON, April 29. The city engineer \ a rued the Highways Board that another big slip was imminent on the Hirtt road, where a fall of 9000 tons of spoil came down a year ago. He suggested precautionary steps should oe taken at once, the cost of which would be about £2OOO. It was suggested that the spoil could be used in the railway reclamation at Thorndon, and the Minister of Railways is to be approached on the subject, as it was pointed out that in the event of a slip occurring the railway lin.j might be blocked as well as the road.
