The Ohai Railway Board has experienced another very & ccessfu year, and tne quantity of coal which it haa handled from the Ohai and Wairio coal mines f the 12 months ending March 31 last reaches the enormous total of 188,000 tons This is the largest output of the mines since the railway was established (reports th- Southland Times), and exceeds the previous year’s total bv 25,000 tons. It is stated that this will be the last time that poppies made by French widows and war sufferers will be offered for sale in New Zealand (says a northern exchange), as this work will in future be taken over by New Zealand ox-service sufferers. There is perhaps a shadow of sentimental regret that this is ceasing, as it served as a visible link between allies who had stood together through great tribulation.
