DUNEDIN ORPHANS’ CLUB.

The twenty-seventh annual general meeting of the Dunedin Orphans’ Club was held in St. Paul’s Schoolroom on Tuesday evening, Bro. H. F. Necs presiding over large attendance. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the Chairman commenting favourably on the excellent state of the club’s finances as disclosed by the balance sheet. The following office-bearers wero elected to hold office during the ensuing year:— President, Bro. H. F. Nees; vice-presi-dents —Bros. T. W. Dobbie, H. Turner, W. R. Waters, H. L. Tapley, M.P., G. A. Wycherley; committee —Bros. A. Sligo, R. Bryant, G. E. Withers, C. H. Russell, S. G. Hull, A. Young, G. Laurie; secretary and treasurer, Bro. R. C. T. Evans; lion, auditors, Bros. Geo. M. Maclean and T. H. Thompson. It was decided that the opening night of the season be held on May 11. The matter of holding a ladies’ night was briefly discussed, and it was agreed that a ladies' night be held, the date of the function to be fixed by the executive. A vote of thanks, which was carried by acclamation, was tendered to the directors of the Exhibition for the excellent work done by them in the inauguration and successful carrying out of the scheme. A hearty vote of thanks was also unanimously accorded the retiring president. Bro. R. Hudson. At the conclusion of the general business, the meeting resolved itself into a social evening, musical items being given by several of the brothers.
