AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
CHOICE OF SITE. NO IMMEDIATE DECISION. WELLINGTON, April 20. A deputation waited upon Mr O. J. Hawken (Minister of Agriculture) to-night to press the claims of the Rangitikei district in the selection of a site for the agricultural college which is to be established in the North Island. Mr W. H. Field, M.P., and members of the deputation, stressed the advantages the district possessed for such a site. The Minister replied that as yet no choic# of site had been made. After having waited so long it would not be rushed, while there was an opportunity of getting
the best possible site. So far as ho was concerned the site selected would be the best available for all considerations. They would not get a perfect site yet, and he was prepared to wait further in order to be able to reach a sound decision. No parochial consideration would weigh with the committee one iota. He did not think an immediate decision would be given, for it was not possible to go out and buy a piece of suitable land in a week or two as some people thought. He realised the importance of the points brought before him, and assured the deputation these would be given full consideration.
