ATTEMPTED THEFT OF EGGS. CHRISTCHURCH, April 19.

Leslie Alfred Eastwick, aged 22 years, was preparing to remove 25 dozen eggs from the Canterbury Co-operative Poultry Producers’ premises, Tuam street, yesterday morning, when he was caught. Eastwick was charged at the Magistrate’s Court this morning with breaking and entering and the theft of eggs valued at £3 ss.

Constable Patterson, who arrested the accused, said that Eastwick told him that he was taking the eggs to his landlady, who had six children. The accused had a key to open the door to the store where the eggs were kept. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed.
