Speaking at the opening of the new hospital at Nelson, the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Public Health, commented favourably on the fact that the hospital contained a maternity ward of 10 beds, and said that it was beyond the ability of the average working man to provide his wife with proper service, and the Government recognised this.
