February 3th, 1926, As a Member of the Forestry Delegation, which Investigated the work acccnp. Mshed by N,Z. Perpetual Forests Ltd, and other coranerclal afforestation enterprises In the Smith-Wylie Group, It gives me great pleasure to favourably report upon the great progress achieved. The Forestry Delegation were given every facility to investigate thoroughly both the properties and their potentialities, and every phase of the extensive planting operations was enquired Into, The properties In the Smith Wylie Croup embrace an area of considerably over 100,000 acres, situated In the Putaruru District at Tokoroa, and also at Maraetal, and In other adjacent areas. The land Is eminently suitable for afforestation purposes, consisting of exoellent pumice country and the rainfall, an Important factor In tree growth, averages about 60 Inches per annum. The large rainfall minimises any fire risk. Planting operations have been carried out successfully in accordance with the coaoltmenta of the Company, and the plantings done In 1924 are showing satis* factory growth. The land ie well situated for the purposes of access, and ample quantities Of oleotrle power will be available from Arapunl, which Is but a few miles distant from the oehtre of the estates, and there is a large supply of water available from the Waikato River which bounds a portion of the estate for seme miles, Raving fully enquired into the Company's management, and peraonnel of the organisation, and the oomplete system In operation, 1 have pleasure In stating that 'I am quite prepared to associate myself with the Company In the capacity of Trustee, representing English Interests, If you are not a Bondholder, communicate at once with the District Headquarters, Smith, Wylie & Co., Ltd., comer Moray Hace W„ or P.O.
