W ” Fluttering feathers 1” exclaimed Golly. “Here’s a funny, peculiar kfad of a sort of a bird!” . ”And what a cheerful face he’s got I Oh, here’s his label: * The Secretary Bird (Serpentarius reptilivorus)/ l expect that last mouthful is his Latin name. Now l remember he’s known as the * reptile bird/ He’s a regular terror to adders I” Well,” replied Golly, ” thank goodness, I'm no good at arithmetic. Judging by his claws and beak, he’d be a nasty customer to have an argument with!” “ They call him the Secretary Bird because the feathers on his head remind you of a clerk with pens stuck behind his ears,” proceeded Teddy. “So they do,” agreed Golly. “ / wonder if he can type and do shorthand?” 44 Don’t suppose so,” grinned Teddy. 44 He may be short-handed, baf he’s long-legged.” (To be Continued.)
