GASWORKS POLL.
LOAN PROPOSAL CARRIED. A poll of ratepayers on the question of raising a loan of £150,000 for the purpose of enlarging and extending the municipal gas works was taken on Tuesday. The polling was small, 1154 votes only being registered, whioh means that less than 7 per cent- of those eligible to vote exercised their right. The proposal was ca»ried by a majority of 48, the voting being as follows: For the proposal 627 Against the proposal 679 Majority for 48
