A letter was received from the Canterbury Society, st&ting that it was sending three delegates to the conference of delegates from societies, to be held in Dunedin on January 14. —Received. The Southland Society wrote stating that it had no remits to submit to the conference, and that it could not promise in the meantime to send a delegate. It boned, however, to be represented. The Southland Society further stated that it did not consider a conference of inspectors necessary. —Received. The Timaru Society forwarded certain remit,9 for consideration at the conference. It approved of a conference of inspectors, and stated that in any case its inspector would be present at the conference.—Received. The Auckland Society wrote approving of a conference of inspectors, but stating that it would be unable, owing to the expense, to be represented by an inspector. The Rev. Mr CTuickshank and Mr 9 Cruickshank and Miss Melville would represent the Auckland Society at the ordinary con-ference.-Noted. The Canterbury Society forwarded remits for the conference, and adviced that Messrs A. W. M‘Gillivray, J. O. Jameson, and H. P. Bridge would represent it at the conference. The Nelson Society wrote stating that its inspector would not be present at the conference. The committee went through the various remits forwarded by the societies, and agreed to approve of some and to oppose others. It was decided that, in view of the replies received regarding holding an inspectors’ conference it would be advisable to bold pp'ffi a conference. It was decided that the full committee should represent the Dunedin Society at the conference. The arrangements for entertaining the visitors was left in the hands of the chairRESTGNATION Mrs Edwards attended the meeting, and stated that owing te the condition of her health she could not attend future meetings. —lt was resolved that a letter be sent to Mrs Edwards expressing the committee’s appreciation of her services to the society and regret at her resignation, the letter to be signed by the president. FINANCE. The secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) reported that the bank book showed a credit balance of £59. Accounts amounting to £l6 9s 6d were passed for payment.
