WEATHER SUMMARY.

THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. The past month has been marked by two very cold spells, and by a prolonged period of wet weather at its close. Rain fell on no fewer than 19 days, the heaviest downpour being rocorded on Wednesday (52 points) and Saturday (46 points) of last week. Very fortunately the week of the opening of the Exhibition was beautifully fine. „The total of 3.lin recorded for the month at the time of writing is not beyond what is frequently experienced here this month though the last two previous Octobers have been unusually dry. The average daily maximum temperature for the month was 59.1 and the maximum 40.4, figures practically the same as those of last month indicating that the approach of the longest day did not last month bring any appreciable rise in the temperature. An examination of the daily figures shows that the days tended to grow' colder as the month went on. The highest recorded maximum temperature, 74, was on the first of the month. In November of last year rain fell on ten days and on ten days also in the previous November. 'Hie following were the points of ram recorded at 9 a.m. daily by Mr W. Jacobsen at the pumping station, Musselburgh: November 3, .08; 5, .04; 6, .04; 7, .34; 8, .2; 13, .04; 14, .1; 15, .1; 16, .22; 21, .06; 22, .32; 23, .22; 24, .02; 25, .02 ; 26, .52; 27, .1; 28, .16; 29, .46. Total, 3.1. _ The total rainfall for the year is evidently going to ho well above last year’s record of 24.25 but that was unusually low.
