THE GENERAL ELECTION.
Mr Wilford announces that at a meeting of the executive of the National Party the candidature for Wellington South of Mr A. B. Sievwright, of Wellington, on behalf of the National Party, has been approved. Mr Sievwright is a young New Zealander, a returned soldier," who held the rank of major in the forces. The Bruce llerald states that represonta-: tions are being made to Mr J. W. Fenton, of lvaitangata, to stand for the Clutlia seat in the Labour interest at the coming General Election. Mr M. E. Lyons, a Christchurch journalist, has consented to Tontest the Lyttelton seat in the interests of the Reform Party at the general election. He strongly advocates a union of the two dominant parties in New Zealand politics wit.h a view to counteracting the forces of extreme Labour and Socialism.
