New Zealand naturally wishes to produce its own bread, if only for safety’s sake in tirne'of war (tavs the Christchurch Sun). The problem is to protect tho grower amj yet to keep the loaf at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, no solution can be guaranteed. Complete State control and a State monopoly of wheat-importing has been tried, but the troublo remains. The dominion cannot have it both ways.
