A LABOUR VIEW.
RESPECT FOR THE "OLD CHIEF/*
By
J. W. Munro, M.P.
From a Labour point of view Mir Maoar was, politically, perhaps the best di£ liked man in our public life. Neverth** less, those of us who represent Labour Parliament respected him, and were oon> pelled to admire him. Many time*, a* we thought, we shot him to pieces witfj our stinging criticism; but the “Old Chief,” as ho was called about the Housey always came back at us full of fight, no matter how late the sitting might be, J have met no one who has come in dosf personal touch with Mr Massey but had expressed admiration for the kindly good-natured, bluff, hearty “Old Chief.* I think I can truthfully say that we of the Labour benches, to a man, will feet deeply sorry not to see his face again in Parliament, notwithstanding our pou* tical differences.
