A SYMPATHETIC STRIKE. FREEZING WORKS CLOSE DOWN. GISBORNE, May 7. A dispute lias arisen at the Tokomaru Bay Freezing Works, as the outcomd of which the men withdrew. The trouble is staled to have arisen over lhe employment of a butcher, formerly employed at the works, who after working elsewhere, applied for re-employ-ment, but was not given a job. The employees decided to come out in sympathy. In view of the action of the men, the company, it is stated, has decided to close down for the season. From 40 to 50 men Are affected.
