an offer be made to the authorities in England that the team now in Australia should break its return journey in New Zealand and play a match in each of the four centres. It was decided that the Finance Committee should negotiate in the matter. A letter was received from the Canadian Trade Commissioner regarding the prospects of a Canadian tour. He etated that he was willing to assist, but that the season was rather far advanced to make definite arrangements this season. It was decided to see if anything could be done this season, and the Finance Committee waa icquested to report to next meeting. The question of the venue of the Chatham Cun final was discussed, the matter having been referred from the annual meeting. It was agreed that had the last final been played in Auckland the council would prooably have received another £SO. The Auckland Association suggested that the council should b/ive the poweT to settle where the final should be played. A'letter from the CUago Centre suggested that the rules for the Brown Shield should be on the same lines as those for the Plunket Shield. The shield should be competed for in each centre in rotation each year. The matter was referred to the Competition Committee. ~~ It was reported that a challenge had been received from the ■Wellington Association for the Brown Shield, and that Auckland had also telegraphed on the same date that they had accepted a challenge from North Auckland, subject to the approval of the association/ The Wellington Association had sent a challenge fee of £1 to the secretary of the council, while Auckland had taken £1 from the North Auckland Association It was recognised that probably the North Auckland challenge had been made in. errot It was decided that the North Auckland Association be informed that the challenge fee must be sent to Wellington, and that on receipt of the challenge fee the question of priority would be referred to the Competitions Committee with power to act. VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM. PERTH, May 9. The English Soccer team beat Western Australia by 7 goals to nil. The local team played sturdily holding the visitors down to one goal in the (first half, but lacked the brillancy of the Englishmen, who carried all before them in the second spell. The West Australian captain (Rowland) had a heavy fall in tbe second spell and fractured a leg. ENGLISH TEAM IN AUSTRALIA. PERTH, May 8. The English Soccer team in the first match of the tour defeated the metropolitan team. They gave a superb exposition of fast, clever football.
