BRITISH POLITICS
THE LABOUR GOVERNMENT. LONDON, August 4. The Daily Mail says: “There is increasing dissatisfaction in the rank and file of the Labourites with the C'abinet’3 mild policy. Mr J. Wheatley (Minister of Health) is the leader of the malcontents, and ho intends summoning conferences at various centres during the recess to discuss a resolution demanding Socialistic legislation, especially measures to deal with unemployment. Mr Ben Tillett told the annual conference of the Social Democratic Federation that there was a great deal of Conservatism in the Labour movement. He said he saw little difference betwen the present and previous Governments on important points except that the present Government had’ more talk. There were Labour Ministers who were only too willing to act as buffers for capitalistic parties. Some subtle underground work was proceeding in that connection. PASSED BY THE LORDS. LONDON, August 5. The House of Lords with minor amendments read a third time the Housing Bill.
