TAIERI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the Taien Agricultural Society was held at Outram on Thursday, Mr W. Kirkland occupying the chair. Twenty-three members were present The annual report and balance sheet was adopted Tha Chairman thanked the committee for its assistance during the past year. He said they could congratulate themselves on their financial position as disclosed by the balance sheet. There had been many difficulties, one being tire flood which prevented a largo number of entires for the show. . Mr A. Walker, the incoming president voiced his gratification at being elected to that office. The retiring president had had a hard row to hoe, and they had reason to be thankful to him. The election of ffico-bearers resulted as follows:—-President, Mr A. Walker; vicepresident, Mr J. A. Williamson; committee —Messrs R. Thomson, J. Walker, F. Doherty C. Findlay, A. Bathgate, W. Kirk, 3. Dow* jum, G. Duthie, C. H Leith, W. Kirkland’, E. F. Black, J. C. Renton, and R. T. Kirk; auditor, Mr J. A M/Kinnon; hop. veterinary surgeons, Messrs W. D. Snowball and J Danskin. Mr W. H. L. Christie was elected a life member The Chairman brought up the question of admission to the show, saying that it was the only show in the South Island where
only Is was charged for admission. — Mr Kirkland said he agreed with the chairman that an increased charge for admission should be made. — It was decided that Is should be charged for ladie3 and 2s for men. It wa3 decided io allow motor cars in the show ground at a charge of 2s 6d. A _ vote of thanks was accorded the past president for the able manner in which ho had carried out his duties during the year.
