Discussing the low price of dairy cows with the director of a dairy company recently the latter stated to a Wanganui Herald reporter that at the present time the country was over-stocked 'with dairy cattle, and the price was accordingly kept down. He believed that had it not been for the fact that this class of cattle were difficult to sell, many dairy farmers to-day would have turned their attention to sheep. The position was that, hoving bought cows at a nigh price, say, up to £l4, they did not care to sacrifice them at half or less that figure. In second-class herds cows wore being sold from 30s to £5. For some years several Moriinsville farmers have been endeavouring to bring their cows to profit earlier each season, and this year promises to be belter than any former one. Already the farmers are starting to milk, and ono herd now totals 35.
