People learn by experience. A man never wakes up his second baby to see it laugh. From several fat wads of notes a Fairlie (South Canterbury) resident began to distribute to his friends German paper money in a lavish manner. To each of a dozen people he presented notes representing 150,000 marks, and still had several million marks’ worth left. He explained that all 'his wealth was purchased by him for the huge sum of ss. Dear Land of Our Fathers! far, far o’er the. sea, Our love and devotion spring over to thee. Dear Land of Our Fathers! supreme and benign, What'er be the issue our service is thine.
