OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Otago Land Board commenced on Wednesday, and was attended by Messrs R. S. Galbraith (Commissioner! of Crown Lands), James Smith, G. Livingstone, C. J. Inder, and T. A. Munro. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. W A. Collins applied for an occupation lease over an area between closed road and Allenhead street, opposite to blocks I and XVIII, town of Dunkeld; area la lr 24p. — Granted provisionally. Walter Gibb applied for an occupation lease over an area of about three acres in block I, Teviot district. —Granted provisionally. Robert Cockburn applied for an occupation lease over an area of five acres opposite sections 106 and 113, block I, Teviot district. -—Granted provisionally. The tailings reserve through section 77, block VII, Lauder district, having been surveyed, the board was requested to consider an application by Patrick Moran for a renewable lease over sections 77 and 79. — Granted: capital value £360. The meeting was continued on Thursday, and was attended by Messrs R. S. Galbraith (Crown Lands Commissioner), James Smilh, C. J. Inder, T. A. Munro, and G. Livingstone. The chief business related to the Wilden leasehold, situated near Heriot, and comprising an area of 56,577 acres. The lease, which is held by Mr Acton Adams, will expire in February, 1925. The question before the board was whether the lease should be extended or the area subdivided, and was pointed out that there were difficulties in providing access to the subdii isiuns and idso in providing suitable homestead sites. The hoard, after discussion, came (o the unanimous decision that steps should be taken to open the area to the public at the earliest possible dale. Ihe board then adjourned to June 4.
