Mr (Massey states that he received from the shipbreakers who purchased the battlecruiser New Zealand a cheque for 620,000. Tire money is to be handed over 10 ihc British Government as a contribution towards the debt extinction fund in connection with the repayment of the cost of the gift battleship. The term of that, fund has about five or six years to run. The North Auckland railway, which has been closed to “through” traffic for six weeks owing to slips between Kaukapakapa and Maungaturoto, has been restored to normal, and traffic will be resumed to-morrow. The work of restoration was delayed by the strike.
