HOCKEY.
OTAGO HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Otago Hookey Association was hold on Tuesday evening, when, in the absence of Mr Park (president), Mr J. Hogg occupied the chair. In welcoming the new delegates, the chairman expressed pleasure that a new club had been formed, and trusted that this club would put in good work in the interest of the game. The new delegates present were Messrs Mitchell, Payton, Ireland, Butler, Foote, Henty, Gardiner, Fleet, Harris, Lockhart, Johnstone, Brown, Leonard, and Powell. The report and balance sheet were presented, and in moving tho adoption the ohairrnan made reference to the excellent services rendered by the president and their regret that ill-health prevented Mr Park from presiding at the meeting. Reference was made to the strong financial position of the association, which the chairman attributed to the good work of Messrs Mitchell and Payton and the members of clubs at the sports carnival, also to the proprietor of the Empire Pictures in giving a picture benefit in aid of schools hockey. The chairman urged all delegates to attend the meetings regularly, and advised all clubs to get their players to practise, so that hockey would be as good in Otago as in other districts. Air T. Alitchell, who seconded tho motion, suggested that more representative matches should be played. Messrs Payton and Foote also spoke in favour of the adoption of the report, and the motion was carried unanimously. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Air J. A. Park (twentieth year); vice-presidents—Messrs J. Hogg. H. Hellyer, S. Foote, P. Foote- H. Paton, L. Ireland, A. Hinton G. Ritchie, T. Mitchell, E. Calder, I. Hubbard, and J. Slater ; secretary and treasurer, Air W. W. Batchelor ; auditor, Mr L. Ireland; management— Messrs G. L. Gardiner. J. Harris, G. Gardiner, C. Lockhart, C. Leonard, and a member of the Gymnastic Club; delegate to the New Zealand Hockey Association, Air H. W. Goodman; primary schools, Air V. Fleet. The matter of the opening of the season and applying for grounds, and other matters were left to the Management Committee to deal with. The association expressed appreciation of the press for the manner in which the matches and meetings were reported. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. REQUEST FOR TEAM FROAI BRITISH COLUMBIA. OTTAWA, March 28. (Received Alarch 30, at 5.5 p.m.) The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association has granted permission to the British Columbia Association to act as it sees fit on a request from Australia that a hockey team from British Columbia be sent to that country to create enthusiasm, in the game, but the trip cannot be made this year.— A. and N.Z.
