the annual meeting of the Caversham Club was held last week. Officers elected: President, Air G. Harraway; vice-presi-dents, Messrs F. Wilkinson and M. Mathewson ; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Mitchell- auditor, Mr G. Dempster; directors —Messrs J. Foster, G. Wills, W. .lohnston, H. Stubbs, and A. Payne; delegates to centre, Messrs R. H. Todd and A. Alitchel! ; selectors —Messrs Harraway, Foster, and Mathewson; Social Committee Messrs W, G. Cole. A. Love, G. Walmsley, and J. Ingram; Club Ties Committee, the selectors. The presentation of the medal for the singles championship of the clup was accepted by Mr Walmsley on behalf of Mr Tret he way (unavoidably absent) Mr J. M. Brown was also presented with a trophy given by Mr Harraway for winning the billiards contest.
The annual meeting of the Dunedin Bowling Centre shows that the finances of the centre are in a satisfactory condition. Owing chiefly to the extra exiienditure incurred in entertaining visiting bowlers, the executive was apprehensive that the expenditure would exceed the revenue. This would probably have been the case but for the decision- a wise one under the circumstances—to play both rinks and pairs at the Easter tournament instead of pairs only as had previously been decided. Tbe tournament gave the executive the funds necessary to end t.he year with a credit instead of a debit balance. The income for the year, £421 Os Id, plus the cash in the bank on July 1. 1822. £62 16s, comes to £483 16s Id, while the expenditure totalled £413 16s 2d, leaving an amount of £69 19s lid to begin the new year with. A meeting of outgoing club delegates to the Dunedin Bowling Centre was held towards the close of last month. Mr W. Jacobsen in the chair. Messrs J. 11. Hancock, J. J. Marlow, and 11. F. M. Mercer were nominated as members of the Dominion Council. The other business of the meeting was of a more or loss informal nature, a number of matters of interest to the game’s followers being discussed. Seven new members were elected, and the following officers elected for the conning season at the annual meeting of t,ho Taieri Bowling Club: President, Mr A. Davidson; vice-president, Mr E. Currie; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. A. M’Kinncn; match committee. Mr D. Gibson; green committee— Messrs’ C. Findlay and J. Welch: general committee —Messrs D. Stevenson, J. Haigh, J. Henderson; delegates to Centre, Messrs Wm. Allan and J. A. M’Kinnon; auditor, Mr W. E. M’Lean. NEW ZEALANDERS IN AUSTRALIA. BRISBANE, July 9. In Friday’s test- match between Queensland and New Zealand three ends of at least one rink were played by candle light. It is claimed that this is the first time in Australia that a tie in a test match has been recorded. _ , July 10. The New Zealand bowlers beat Bundaberg by 172- points t-o 159.The New Zealanders defeated Maryborough bv 206 points to 123. Inly 34. Tbe New Zealand bowlers beat Toowoomba by 176 points to 142.
