ESCAPE FROM CAOL.

AUCKLAND, July 6. Four prisoners escaped from Mount Eden Gaol at 10 o’clock this morning, and are still at large. Their names are: Richard Hayes, aged 38 years; Eric Robert Burnett, 18 years; Charles King, 34 years; and Lawrence Egmont Windsor, 32 years. All are iong-sentence men. A later message states that King was recaptured in (he city at 3.30 p.m. and Hayes was recaptured in ihe city at 5.30 p.in. King later attempted to escape from Newton Police Station. Hayes and Windsor were sentenced at Wellington, and the others at Auckland, for breaking and entering.
